Developed in collaboration with Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR), Ministry of Transport and Logistic Services, the Transport General Authority (TGA), Ministry of Culture, and the Saudi Tourism Authority (STA), the unveiling marks a defining moment for ultra-luxury rail travel in the Middle East. Presented at the 9th edition of the FII under the theme “The Key to Prosperity,” the showcase provided a first glimpse into the exceptional design, craftsmanship, and immersive experience that will define this groundbreaking project.
The train will feature 31 private suites and 2 presidential suites, accommodating up to 66 guests, alongside two restaurant cars and a Majlis lounge adorned with finely carved wood finishes, desertinspired hues, and golden accents that reflect the warmth and richness of Saudi heritage. The two restaurant cars will offer a refined culinary choice between authentic local and traditional cuisine, and an international menu with fusion Italian influences, both curated by world-renowned chefs to deliver a Michelin-level fine-dining experience on board.
Dream of the Desert is set to make its inaugural journey at the end of 2026, departing from Riyadh and travelling along 1,300 kilometers of existing railway lines with thoughtfully chosen stops that showcase Saudi Arabia’s most captivating landscapes and destinations. The one- to two-night itineraries have been meticulously curated to highlight the Kingdom’s natural beauty, cultural richness, and enduring sense of place.
Designed by renowned architect and interior designer Aline Asmar d’Amman, founder of Culture in Architecture, the train interiors are imagined with intention, honoring both Saudi heritage and the distinctive signature of Italian making. Crafted textures, reinterpreted textile weavings and rich wood carvings capture the essence of tradition while setting the stage for timeless elegance with cultural relevance. Arabian soul and artisanal excellence permeate the spaces with a sense of belonging, translating memory through a refined contemporary lens. The desert’s palette of earthy tones, sandy browns and oasis green are softly lit by the cinematic glow of Murano blown glass evoking the warmth of oriental lanterns. The atmospheric interiors celebrate the majesty of the Kingdom’s landscapes steeped with stories of architectural legacy and the vast, poetic desert scenery. Beyond its exquisite interiors, Dream of the Desert will offer bespoke on-board and offboard experiences, including curated excursions, private performances, and personalized services that extend the journey beyond the rails.
