SHOWCASING THE BEST

Under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the opening ceremony of the 6th Bahrain Animal Production Show (Mara’ee 2023) was held at the Bahrain International Endurance Village. The event is organized by the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture.

The sixth edition of the Bahrain Animal Production Show (Mara’ee 2023) reflects the kingdom’s keenness under the leadership of HM the King to achieve a set of strategic goals that focus on global food production, protecting the wildlife cultural heritage, and enhancing the sector’s contribution to domestic produce.

       The exhibition featured a large number of specialized events and presentations in the field of animal production, birds, and poultry. Animal wealth is considered one of the essential pillars in enhancing food security. It provides a platform for commercial and investment deals, technology transfer, experience exchange, education, entertainment, and competitions, as well as an opportunity to host exhibitions, workshops, and accompanying seminars.

       This edition hosted daily shows featuring various types of pets, productive animals, birds, and competitions among different breeds. The public directly interacted with these displays, an anticipated opportunity for enthusiasts, collectors, and all visitors.

       The live animal display sections included showcasing camels, featuring a collection of Bahraini camels with their respective breeds, decorative camels, and racing camels. It also highlighted the most important breeds of horses and other equine species raised in the Kingdom of Bahrain, along with major global cattle breeds specializing in milk and meat production in the Kingdom.

       A tent was dedicated to displaying significant breeds of dogs bred in Bahrain, as well as another tent showcasing authentic pedigrees of cats bred in the Kingdom. Additionally, there was a display of various major breeds of large ornamental birds raised in Bahrain. Trade in ornamental birds is popular in Bahrain and across the Gulf. Bahrain boasts internationally recognized judges in this field. A tent was allocated to showcase a collection of the most important breeds of small ornamental birds bred in Bahrain.

       Various associations, clubs, and companies participated in the exhibitions. Following art and horse riding performances, HM the King awarded first-place winners in various competitions with prizes. The awards were for Arabian hounds (saluki), horses, camels, pigeons and cattle. The winners were His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Mohsen Ali Abdullah Hussain, Abdullah Ahmed Shaheen Al Mudhahiki, Muhammad Salem Al Maamari, Hassan Jabr Hassan Al-Nuaimi, and Hussain Habib Ali. After that, His Majesty honored the event sponsors.

       HM the King expressed the kingdom’s keenness on supporting and developing the livestock and agricultural sector, as it is crucial for achieving comprehensive development, increasing national food security, and ensuring sustainability. His Majesty commended the government’s programs, plans, and projects led by HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister that focus on agricultural, animal resources, and marine development to further enhance food security and the food industry. His Majesty said it was important to continue efforts to boost Bahrain’s status as a destination that attracts investment through creating opportunities and a conducive environment for growth.

       His Majesty thanked the Ministry of Municipalities and Agriculture for its efforts in organizing the event, as part of its initiatives to support innovation and advancement in agricultural and animal production. His Majesty also noted the efforts of the Royal Guard in supporting the success of the event. His Majesty said that the participation of local companies in this edition demonstrated the support for local producers, commending the cultural, educational, and entertainment activities at the exhibition.
