His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa hosted a gathering at Al Safriya Palace, welcoming Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Bahrain’s Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, Francisco Javier Gómez González, Manager of the Spanish Riding School of Córdoba, and Argentine artist Augusto Daniel Gallo. The meeting highlighted the close ties between Bahrain and Spain and their shared appreciation for equestrian traditions.

During the event, Mr. González presented His Majesty with an Andalusian horse, a breed celebrated for its grace, agility, and temperament. His Majesty expressed his appreciation for the horse’s qualities, particularly its role in dressage competitions, a sport known for its precision and harmony between horse and rider. This gesture underscored the cultural connection between Bahrain and Spain, both of which place significant value on equestrian heritage.

       His Majesty was also presented with a model of an Arabian horse, a symbol of Bahrain’s rich equestrian legacy. This piece, crafted by Argentine artist Augusto Daniel Gallo, was gifted in celebration of the 7th Bahrain Animal and Agricultural Production Exhibition, Mara’ee 2024. The model represents the significance of Arabian horses to Bahrain’s heritage and its ongoing efforts to preserve and promote traditional animal husbandry practices.

       During the meeting, His Majesty reflected on the important role equestrian sports play in fostering international cooperation. He highlighted how shared interests in horse riding can bridge cultural divides and promote understanding and friendship between nations. His remarks underscored Bahrain’s commitment to cultural exchange and global harmony through shared passions.

       Speaking on behalf of the Spanish Riding School of Córdoba, Mr. González thanked His Majesty for the warm reception and praised Bahrain’s achievements in equestrian sports. He acknowledged Bahrain’s Arabian horse stables and the Kingdom’s growing influence in international equestrian competitions. Bahrain’s continued success in horse racing and dressage highlights its dedication to preserving its equestrian heritage.
