Upon his arrival, His Majesty King Hamad, accompanied by his two sons, Sheikh Abdullah Hamad Al Khalifa and Sheikh Khalid Hamad Al Khalifa, was greeted with a formal static guard of honor. This ceremonial reception, which included 24 personnel from the First Battalion of the Royal Ranger Regiment (Ceremonial Infantry), symbolized the strong and cordial relations between the two nations.
The coronation ceremony commenced with the arrival of Sultan Ibrahim and his consort into the Balairung Seri Hall. The ceremony included the presentation of the Holy Quran to Sultan Ibrahim, followed by a welcoming speech from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Sultan Ibrahim then received the state sword, took the oath, and addressed the distinguished guests. The ceremony concluded with the playing of the Malaysian national anthem and a 21-gun salute, honoring the newly coronated monarch.
His Majesty King Hamad extended his heartfelt congratulations to Sultan Ibrahim, wishing him success in his royal duties and the prosperity of Malaysia and its people. His Majesty praised the historical relations between Bahrain and Malaysia and expressed a commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation in various fields, including politics, economy, education, culture, tourism, and health.
During his visit, His Majesty King Hamad also attended a royal banquet at Istana Negara, further solidifying the bond between the two countries. The banquet was a grand affair, attended by members of the royal families, Malaysian regional sultans, senior guests, and government officials. His Majesty King Hamad and Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim held discussions on enhancing Malaysia Bahrain cooperation, particularly in light of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
The visit was not only a celebration of Sultan Ibrahim’s coronation but also a reaffirmation of the strong and friendly ties between Bahrain and Malaysia. His Majesty King Hamad highlighted the importance of continuous efforts to increase cooperation in various sectors. Both leaders discussed avenues for mutual benefit, emphasizing the potential for collaboration beyond economic cooperation, including sharing experiences related to the global Islamic banking sector.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim expressed his gratitude for His Majesty King Hamad’s visit, noting that it symbolized the deep and longstanding friendship between the two countries. Sultan Ibrahim also expressed his appreciation for His Majesty King Hamad’s attendance, acknowledging the strong historical ties and the commitment to future cooperation between Bahrain and Malaysia.
